Meet Stacey
Who am I?
Officially, I'm a qualified Specialised Kinesiologist, registered Specialist Wellness Counsellor and Life Coach, with a BA in Psychology and Communication.
Unofficially, I'm a mother, an enthusiastic student of human behaviour and someone who has never been particularly interested in pretending that life is neater than it really is.
I love animals — often more than people, although I'm aware that this is an unusual opening statement for someone who works with people.
I love freezing cold weather, mountains and the sort of landscape that makes you feel very small in the best possible way. I am equally capable of abandoning this entire personality to lie on a warm beach, sunning myself like a lizard.
I love life, fun, authenticity and honesty. I value depth, but I don't believe depth has to be dreary. Important conversations can contain tears, uncomfortable truths, unexpected laughter and sometimes all three within a fairly short space of time.
What has shaped me?
Before Kinesiolign, I spent many years in corporate and media environments. I understand deadlines, responsibility, pressure, relationships, family life and the peculiar skill of appearing completely functional while wondering what on earth is happening underneath it all.
My daughter has probably taught me more about life, psychology and how to be human in her few years on this earth than any qualification ever could.
Motherhood has made me more curious, more humble and far less interested in perfect theories about how people "should" behave. Human beings develop in relationship. We adapt, protect, experiment, get things wonderfully right, get other things spectacularly wrong — and keep becoming.
My own life has included change, mistakes, resilience, love, loss, difficult decisions and considerable personal growth. I don't bring my personal story into the room to make a client's experience about me. I bring the humility it has taught me: no qualification gives one human being the right to assume they know everything about another.
What guides me
Curiosity before criticism.
I'm interested in why a response made sense — not simply why it has become inconvenient.
Many patterns begin as attempts to adapt, cope, belong, protect or keep life manageable. Understanding that does not mean excusing every behaviour or avoiding responsibility. It gives us a more useful place from which to consider what is happening now.
"Ah, there you are. I understand why you did that."
That shift from judgement to curiosity can open an entirely different conversation.
Working together
What is it like to work with me?
My approach is warm, honest, grounded and collaborative.
I don't sit behind a clipboard pretending to possess all the answers. I bring professional training, careful observation, appropriate challenge and a broad kinesiology toolkit. You bring your own experience, understanding and right to choose.
You can expect thoughtful questions, real conversation and space to consider things from more than one perspective. You can also expect humour where it fits. It is never used to minimise pain or sidestep something important; sometimes it simply gives us enough room to breathe.
Serious personal work does not require us to be serious every second.
